Privacy Policy - Local Electricity Discount Scheme (the "Scheme")

This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which Renewable Energy Systems Limited (and companies for whom Renewable Energy Systems Limited manage and administer a Scheme and who use personal data in relation to a Scheme) ("we", "us", or "our") will process any of your personal data we collect from you, or that is provided to us, in relation to a Scheme. What data do we collect?

We collect personally identifiable data that is provided through this website and/or when you register to participate in a Scheme. This might include contact details like your name, email address or phone number or demographic information such as your address or postcode, details of your electricity supplier, your electricity account number, the name of the electricity account holder and your MPAN or MPRN number (a unique number that identifies your electricity meter).

Where the electricity account for any eligible property is held by more than one person, you must make each person named as an electricity account holder aware of this Privacy Policy and obtain each account holder’s consent before providing us with their personal data. In the remainder of this Privacy Policy, any reference to "you" and "your" includes all electricity account holders.

Our websites may from time to time use cookies in order to help provide you with a better experience when using our website and to help us identify website users. Cookies are small text files and are downloaded via your browser when you access certain websites. Why do we collect personal data about you?

We will use your personal data for the purposes of registering your interest in the Scheme, managing and administering your participation in the Scheme and to provide you with service updates and information relating to the Scheme, the project to which it relates and associated events and updates.

We may also use your personal data for statistical and business analysis purposes and, if you consent, to notify you of products and services provided by a Scheme administrator that may be of interest to you.

Will we share your personal data with other organisations once we have received it?

We may share your personal data with any member of our group which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006 (the "RES Group").

We may also share your personal data with a Scheme administrator or the electricity supplier supplying electricity to your eligible property.

Your personal data may also be disclosed to any prospective purchaser of the relevant project in the event that our interests (or the interests of any part of the RES Group) are to be acquired by a third party (whether in whole or in part and whether directly or indirectly) and to any prospective lender or investor proposing to assist with financing the relevant project and/or to any company for whom we administer a Scheme for a relevant project.

Your personal data may also be used by us and other members of the RES Group and/or shared with third parties for the purposes of

  • fraud prevention;
  • the provision of services by third parties to the RES Group;
  • surveys relating to the Scheme;
  • compliance with any legal obligation or in order to enforce our contractual rights under this Privacy Policy or any other agreements (including the terms and conditions for the Scheme); or
  • protecting our rights, property or safety.

Is your personal data stored securely?

Where you send personal data to us for any purpose, it will be stored in accordance with our current business practices which are designed to maintain confidentiality and security.

Unfortunately, the transmission of data and information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal data transmitted to our websites; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your personal data, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

We may make a small charge for this service. The information/data that you request will be provided in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and within a reasonable timescale.

We will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that the information/data we hold is accurate and up to date and relevant and we will be happy to correct any inaccuracies.

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will inform you (before collecting your personal data) if we intend to use your personal data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your personal data to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by contacting us at the above address.
